Mark FracchiaChair of Executive CommitteeMark Fracchia joined the Western Potash Corp. Executive Committee board in May 2022. He also serves on the Western Resources Corp. board. Mr. Fracchia brings over 30 years of management, executive and director experience to Western. He is well connected in the potash world and has a track record of accomplishments in leadership, strategy, vision and, in particular, innovative potash mining technology. His extensive career encompasses roles such as Technical Superintendent, General Manager at multiple Potash sites, Vice President of Safety, Health, Environmental & Security, culminating in his appointment as President, all within the organization now known as Nutrien, formerly PotashCorp. Mr. Fracchia graduated from the University of Saskatchewan majoring in Chemical Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is a registered Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.

Jerry ZhangMember of Executive CommitteeJerry Zhang joined the Western Potash Corp. Executive Committee board in May 2022. He is also the Senior Vice President of Western Potash Corp. Mr. Zhang has worked with Western Potash Corp. since 2011. He has extensive experience in management administration, both in government organizations and private enterprises, and extensive working knowledge of the projects at Western Potash. Mr. Zhang is also bilingual in Chinese and English. Mr. Zhang holds a Master of International Communications from Macquarie University, Australia, and a PhD in International Relations from the University of Melbourne.

Elmar GoldsmithMember of Technical CommitteeElmar Goldsmith joined Western Potash’s Technical Committee in May 2022. Mr. Goldsmith is one of the world’s leading experts in potash solution mining. He is currently Vice President of Canatech Management Services. Mr. Goldsmith was Vice President of Technical Services for IMC Global Potash (the predecessor of Mosaic Company) where he was responsible for the company’s 6-Sigma initiatives for three major potash mines in Saskatchewan, and potash mines in each of Michigan, Utah and New Mexico. Mr. Goldsmith is the inventor and co-inventor on a variety of patents related to potash mining and refining and has published many technical papers. Mr. Goldsmith is widely respected and regarded as a pioneer of potash solution mining. Mr. Goldsmith holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Regina and Certificate of Quality Assurance Management from the University of Manitoba.

Robert PloszMember of Technical CommitteeRobert Plosz joined Western Potash’s Technical Committee in May 2022. Mr. Plosz is one of a few solution mining technical experts in the world with 40 years of hands-on experience. He is currently providing consulting services to mining companies to improve production processes and investigate growth opportunities. Mr. Plosz held senior positions at different mine sites of the world’s largest solution mining company, the Mosaic Company, respectively as Senior Director of Strategy and Technical Services, Senior Director of Supply Chain, Director of Project Evaluation, and general manager of the Belle Plaine potash mine. Mr. Plosz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
Irwin Ewen

Irwin EwenMember of Technical CommitteeIrwin Ewen joined Western Potash’s Technical Committee in May 2022. Mr. Ewen brings with him over 40 years of involved experience in process engineering and solution mining. Before venturing into independent consulting services, Mr. Ewen was the process manager for SNC-Lavalin Group where he served as the process lead for multiple projects, including Western’s Milestone Project detailed engineering. Mr. Ewen provides consulting services for processes in selective solution mines with a focus on mass and heat balance development, optimization of piping and instrument diagrams, and reporting and operating data analysis.
Brandon Bartosh

Brandon BartoshMember of Technical CommitteeBrandon Bartosh was appointed to the Technical Committee of Western Potash in May 2022. He is currently providing solution mining and operation related services to the Milestone Project in his capacity as Technical Adviser. Mr. Bartosh brings over 15 years of selective solution mining and horizontal cavern development experience from the Moab, Utah Mine of Intrepid Potash where Mr. Bartosh served in progressive roles from Electrical Engineer to Process Engineer to Production Manager and then Plant Manager. In his role as Plant Manager, he led the Sylvite 9 Solution Mine development program which successfully completed multiple horizontal caverns. Mr. Bartosh’s publications include: “An Update to the History of Solution Mining at the Cane Creek Mine, MOAB, UTAH – 2006 to 2021” (SMRI Technical Conference Paper F2021 Galveston Conference, 19-22 September 2021.) Mr. Bartosh holds a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah and an Master's of Business Administration from Colorado Mesa University.

Jamie JanottaPlant ManagerJamie Janotta joined Western Potash Corp. (“Western”) in May 2023 as Operations Director for the Milestone Potash Phase 1 Project (the “Project”). Mr. Janotta brings over 40 years of potash processing and operational experience to the Project. Mr. Janotta started his professional career at the world’s largest solution potash mine - Mosaic Potash Belle Plaine Mine - having served there for 30 years as, progressively, Wet Process Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, Minefield Manager, Refinery Manager and Commissioning Manager. Over the past decade, Mr. Janotta has been actively involved in consulting for many other potash projects in the areas of processing and commissioning, including Michigan Potash, K S Potash, Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan and Vale Potash, etc. He has demonstrated a strong track record, in his various roles, of increasing refinery capacity, reducing operational costs and improving product quality and safety performance, among others. Mr. Janotta graduated from the University of Saskatchewan majoring in Chemical Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Bill XueCEOMr. Bill Xue was appointed Managing Director of Western Potash Corp. in April 2021. Mr. Xue brings 20 years experience in project & investment management from both the private and public sectors, specializing in finance, mining, gas, and power generation fields. He has played a leading role in several significant M&A transactions involving publicly listed companies, including Deputy Chief Engineer at Shanxi Economic Development Investment Company, Executive Deputy General Manager at Shanxi Top Energy Company Ltd., Managing Partner at Shanxi Baijie Law Firm, President and General Manager at Shanxi Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., Vice President of Strategy & Investment at Shanxi International Electricity Group Limited Company, and Managing Director and Investment Review Board Director at Chinastone Capital Management Limited. Mr. Xue currently maintains his role as President and Director of the Investment Review Board of Beijing Tairui Innovation Capital Management Co. Ltd. Mr. Xue is now President and CEO of Western Resources Corp., the parent company of Western Potash Corp. Mr. Xue earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Beijing Jiaotong University and was certified as a lawyer in 1999.

Francis MukanyaDeputy Plant ManagerFrancis Mukanya was appointed Operations Manager in October 2020. He joined Western Potash Corp. in October 2018 as a Mechanical Engineer. Mr. Mukanya has extensive experience in industrial maintenance, process oversight, and project management specifically in the potash industry. Before joining Western, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Nutrien Rocanville Division where he helped establish the inspection and repair program for crystallizers. He also worked for over seven years in the Capital and Sustaining Capital department for Mosaic Potash’s Belle Plaine solution mine as a Senior Project Engineer. Mr. Mukanya is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Saskatchewan. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Systems Engineering from the University of Regina. He is also bilingual in English and French.
Simon Guo

Simon GuoAssistant to President / Procurement ManagerMr. Guo was appointed Procurement Manager of Western Potash Corp. in 2021. In additional to procurement role, he was later appointed as Assistant to President in March 2023. Taking charge of equity and mortgages investments, Mr. Guo joined Western Resources Corp. in May 2017 where he served as Managing Director of its real estate division. Through his work as the real estate managing director, Mr. Guo led and managed numerous critical real estate equity and mortgage investments. With Western Resources’ change of strategic focus to potash mining, Mr. Guo transferred to Western Potash to lead the company’s procurement and contracts. Mr. Guo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Event Management from University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Huddersfield, and a Master of Global Management from Royal Roads University of Canada.
Caraleigh Currie

Caraleigh CurrieMining ManagerAs a Geoscientist, Caraleigh Currie joined the Western Potash Corp. mining team in August 2022. She was promoted as Mining Supervisor in July 2023, leading the mining team and using innovative technologies to develop the underground caverns of the Milestone Phase 1 Project. Caraleigh brings over 17 years of geological and potash experience to Western. She has extensive experience in drilling and geological core logging and report writing for NI 43-101 & JORC. She has a unique background in the sedimentology and stratigraphy of the Prairie Evaporate Formation within Saskatchewan and Manitoba and the general stratigraphy of the Elk Point Basin from surface to the Pre-Cambrian. Prior to joining Western, Caraleigh was actively involved in many potash and mining projects including the BHP Billiton Jasen project, Vale Potash Canada project, Mosaic Esterhazy project, a Rio Tinto Exploration’s drilling program, as well as projects for Nutrien and Gensource, etc. Caraleigh graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. She is a registered Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
Junjie Liu

Junjie LiuCorporate SecretaryJunjie Liu joined the Western Potash Corp. team in the role of Corporate Secretary in July 2023. He is also in charge of the Company’s overall admin work. Junjie brings over 12 years of experience in potash project management, community and stakeholder engagement, and government regulatory agency relations. Prior to joining Western, Junjie was Vice President of Golden Fortune Potash Corp., a Saskatoon based junior potash company, where he managed and advanced the Broadview Potash Project from explorations through the EIA approval and feasibility study stage. As a professional geologist, Junjie has a deep understanding of the SK potash geological conditions and potash solution mining technologies. Junjie obtained a degree of Bachelor of Science in both Geochemistry (Major) and Economics (Double Major) from Peking University. He also got two Master of Science degrees, Geology from the University of Regina, and Geochemistry from Peking University. Junjie is a registered Professional Geologist with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.

Jesse DellHSE SupervisorJesse Dell joined Western Potash Corp. as HSE Supervisor in September 2023. Mr. Dell brings about 20 years of industry-related experience in the fields of underground and overhead construction, maintenance, and supervision on work sites with proven safety and production record. Prior to joining Western, Mr. Dell was Safety Advisor for H&S Wiring Solutions. He will play a key role in ensuring all future on-site work at Western is carried out efficiently, safely and in accordance with policies and standards. Mr. Dell is a red seal powerline interprovincial journeyperson, and a certified National Construction Safety Officer. |
